Booking an Appointment

In British Columbia, patients require a referral from a family physician or another physician to see a specialist and have the cost of the visit covered by the BC Medical Services Plan (MSP).

Please have your doctor fax us a referral request.

Upon acceptance, we will contact you to set up an appointment when space is available. Typical wait times for non-urgent appointments can be anywhere from 1-3 months, but urgent appointments (for example, suspected lung cancer) will be accommodated much sooner.

We are unable to see walk-in patients, patients without a referral, or patients without an appointment.

New Consults

Upon acceptance of your referral, we will contact you to email you a set of intake forms, including:

  • a general clinic registration and consent form
  • a form collecting details of your medical history
  • a form collecting details of your respiratory problems/ concerns

We request you to complete these forms as soon as possible, so that the doctor can review your information prior to your initial consult.

To allow for efficiency and convenience for the patient, new consults are typically booked virtually (via phone), and subsequent visits are offered in-person depending on the situation.

Follow-Ups

If you have recently completed an appointment with the doctor, and follow-up is required, we will notify you via phone or email of your next appointment date.

Confirming Your Appointment

For appointments booked in advance, you will receive an email reminder 2 days prior to your next appointment. Please review the email and click on the link provided to confirm your appointment.

For appointments booked with short notice (less than 48h in advance), we will notify you over the phone, and will consider that appointment confirmed.

Changes or Cancellations

If you need to change or cancel your appointment, please call us directly and provide at least 24h notice.

Rebooking Fees

Please note that a rebooking fee will be charged in the following situations:

  • if you "no-show" to an appointment that you confirmed
  • if you change or cancel an appointment with less than 24h notice

The fee is $245 to rebook a Consult and $100 to rebook a Follow-up.

This can be paid by cash, cheque, or interac e-transfer to an email address we will provide you.

For 2 consecutive "no-shows", appointments will not be rebooked. You will need to speak with your referring doctor for another referral, as well as pay the rebooking fee in order to schedule a new appointment.
