Virtual Care

Our clinic uses virtual methods (telephone visits) to assist in providing care to our patients. Telephone visits are used in conjunction with in-person visits to provide optimal care. 


Just like online shopping or email, virtual care has some inherent privacy and security risks that your health information may be intercepted or unintentionally disclosed. We want to make sure you understand this before we proceed. In order to improve privacy and confidentiality, you should also take steps to participate in this virtual care encounter in a private setting and should not use an employer’s or someone else’s computer/device as they may be able to access your information. If it is determined you require a physical exam you may still need to be assessed in person. You should also understand that virtual care is not a substitute for attending the Emergency Department if urgent care is needed.


You will asked to provide your agreement/consent for virtual care on your initial intake form.

EMAIL communication

Email Communication

Our clinic uses email communication to send you:

-appointment notifications and confirmations

-secure messages

-pre-visit questionnaires and forms

-helpful educational material


Most normal email providers do not encrypt emails in your account, therefore there may always be some inherent privacy and security risks that your health information may be intercepted or unintentionally disclosed. This can occur if you are sending an email to someone that contains personal or confidential information.


You will asked to provide your agreement/consent for email communication on your initial intake form.

Ocean Health Messenger

Our clinic also uses a secure, online technology called Ocean to communicate with patients regarding their health. Any email that contains personal or confidential information will require you to authenticate using your date of birth. This provides additional security compared with conventional email when receiving emails from our clinic.

Code of Conduct

INSPIRE Lung and Medical Centre (ILMC) prides itself on providing a professional and respectful environment. To assist in that endeavour, we ask that staff, doctors, and patients follow this Code of Conduct:
 

  • Mutual respect
    • ILMC respects the time, rights, and privacy of its patients. It requests that patients recognize and respect the time, rights, and privacy of all doctors and staff.
  • Harassment-free environment
    • ILMC provides a harassment free environment for its patients and staff. Any behaviour considered harassment will not be tolerated in the clinic by anyone. This includes, but is not limited to, offensive language, intimidation, physical assaults, or aggressive behaviour.
  • On time appointments
    • In general, ILMC strives to see patients on time. To help ensure this policy can be true, we request our patients arrive on time and are also understanding of any delays experienced due to extenuating circumstances.       
  • Missed appointment fees
    • ILMC requires at least 24 hours advance notice for appointment cancellations. You will be billed for missed appointments (see Appointment Policies). 
  • Forms
    • Please complete any forms which must be attended to before beginning the visit with your doctor.
  • Test results
    • ILMC does not provide the results of medical tests over the phone. If a doctor authorizes a staff member to call, they will inform you of your results. We do not call if your results have returned normal. If your results are abnormal, then our staff will call you and book an appointment for you to review your results
  • Telephone calls
    • Phone calls are answered Monday-Thursday 9-12 and 1-3, and Fridays 9-12
  • Prescription Refills
    • Prescription refills are usually given by your specialist based on the indication. For chronic medications, refills are usually given for 6-12 months. 
  • Uninsured Services
    • Certain services may not be covered by the Medical Services Plan (MSP). Payment for uninsured services is due upon receipt of the service. We accept Interac e-Transfer, Cash, or Cheques.
